Something Like Free
"Free" isn't a destination. It's something you build, imperfectly, in the middle of a real life. It’s what it feels like when you stop waiting for permission and start building the life you want, not without struggle, but without apology. This blog is about the messy, meaningful work of building a life with intention: career, reinvention, family, and the occasional wave. On living fully, messily, and on purpose.
I went on vacation and came home with more than just a souvenir
Will the life be everything we thought it would?
The Journey So Far
I visited Bali once and spent the whole flight home figuring out how to stay. Some decisions are hard to explain and easy to live with. This is the story of how we got here, and what we found when we did.

Finding Home
Settling into our villa and the first 30 days.
I left behind a life that looked fine
to build one that felt free.
About me
I'm an HR professional leading people operations at startups and scale-ups, currently working remotely from Bali. By day, I'm still deep in the work I've always loved: building teams, shaping culture, learning how HR can use AI, and helping growing companies get the people side right. But a few months ago, I made a deliberate decision to stop waiting for the "right time" and move to Bali with my kids and husband, laptop in hand. Something Like Free is where I write about all of it: the career, the move, the surf, the messy middle of building a life that actually fits. If you've ever felt like you were capable of more than your current circumstances were asking of you, you're in the right place.
